Evangelism
Outreach & Evangelism -
Do you want to put your spiritual impulse to reach out to the unchurched
and the wayward to work?
Then this is the place for you!!!
This is an email message received several times at our
house. It is a reminder of our need to ask the Holy Spirit for
direction during the week so that we are equipped not only for serving
our Lord, but also for showing to others His love, guidance, and
presence in our daily lives.
Monday: Wash Day
Lord, help me wash away all my selfishness and vanity, so I may serve
you with perfect humility through the week ahead.
Tuesday: Ironing Day
Dear Lord, please help me to iron out all the wrinkles of prejudice I
have collected through the years so that I may see the beauty in
others.
Wednesday: Mending Day
God, help me mend my ways so I will not set a bad example for others.
Thursday: Cleaning Day
Lord Jesus, help me to dust out the many faults I have been hiding in
the secret corners of my life.
Friday: Shopping Day
Oh God, give me the grace to shop wisely so that I may purchase
eternal happiness for myself and all other in need of love.
Saturday: Cooking Day
Help me, my Savior, to brew a big kettle of brotherly love and serve
it with clean, sweet bread of human kindness.
Sunday: The Lord's Day
Oh God, I have prepared my house for you. Please come into my heart so
I may spend the day and the rest of my life in your presence.
Evangelism Ministry - Team Philosophy
The philosophy of the Evangelism Team of Messiah Lutheran Church, LCMS,
is based on friendship evangelism. We encourage all Messiah members to extend the
friendship of Jesus Christ to our community, to bring friends to church and to be a friend
to all.
It is our belief that our Mission is to encourage people to follow
Christ through showing Gods care and love through a friendly environment at Messiah
and through our daily contacts with others in the community. We believe that we are called
to use fellowship events (potlucks, parties, auctions, pre and post-service
gatherings, etc) as opportunities to get to know others and invite them to be a part of
our church family.
We further believe that our congregation must work together to create a
nurturing environment. Toward that end, we consider the education of the congregation in
simple and user-friendly ways of sharing faith to be an important part of our role.
