Areas of Ministry:
Outreach Ministry - Evangelism: Chairman -
Ellen Goodell. Our mission is to lead
Messiahs people in witnessing to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by reaching out into the
community. Opportunities to serve include: The visiting team, new member sponsor, sending
cards, Sunday greeter, teaching and leading others in evangelism.
Lay Ministry - The Elders: Our mission is to shepherd the
spiritual development of Gods people, to care for their whole person, and to prepare
for meaningful, uplifting worship experiences so that we all are brought closer to Christ.
Every 5th Sunday the Elders serve as intercessors for healing. Under the Elders
are the following ministries: Ushering teams, Lectors, Acolytes.
Christian Education Ministry: Chairman - Leah Sparks. Our mission is to promote
continuing Christian Educational opportunities for all ages: Sunday School Classes for
children and adults, Pre- Sunday School age Cradle Roll ministry, Jr High Confirmation,
Vacation Bible School, Special Events, Sunday Nursery, teacher training and workshops.
Opportunities to serve are: teacher, assistant teacher, nursery caregiving, craft teacher,
study leaders, and Christian Education leadership.
Youth Ministry: Our mission is to
disciple Jr High and Sr High youth toward a mature faith in Jesus Christ
through study, encouragement, fellowship and service.
Music Ministry: Our mission is to lead and enhance our worship
experience using the musical gifts of God’s people to the glory of God.
Stewardship Ministry: Chairman - Fred Spike. Our mission is
to help our congregation to better understand the opportunities for good
biblical stewardship of money, time and talents and to raise our sights to
possibilities that we have in service of our Lord. Opportunities for
serving include: Transportation
coordinator, teaching and leading in stewardship. Assisting the Stewardship Ministry are
the Financial Secretary and the Treasurer
Friends in Need - Hands On Ministry: Our mission is to
provide assistance to individuals, families and agencies in the county area through
"hands on" service and the financial support of Messiahs people.
Opportunities to serve: We supervise Mother Hubbards Cupboard every 5th
Friday. We provide meals for the Wilmington Interfaith
Hospitality Network. Periodic food drives.
Trustee Ministry - Care of Church Property: Our mission
is to manage the church property so that it serves the main function of the church and
gives glory to God. We see to repairs, maintenance, improvements and additions of all
properties. Opportunities to serve: carpentry, lawn care, garden care, handyman,
supervision of others in care and cleaning.
Fellowship Ministry: Chairman - Carol Ernst. Our mission is to advocate events
that will further Christian fellowship, friendship and caring for one another in the
church. Opportunities to serve are: event planning, planning larger group gathering, the
craft group, maintaining necessary fellowship supplies.
Adult Fellowship - The Working Class: We
don't have a name, but our mission is to fellowship, grow together and serve in
Christ. We are post grads in our 20s and 30s who enjoy gathering with other
young adults. Auxiliary: Messiahs Thrivent group (formerly known as Aid
Association for Lutherans, Branch 7492) provides opportunities for service to the
community. Since its beginning in 1990 we have achieved a "gold star"
rating for community service activities. Service projects include building handicapped
ramps, helping youth serve, fund raising for disaster relief, educational events, Habitat for Humanity, and meeting
individual needs. We meet every 4th Sunday at 9:30 in the Fellowship Hall.
Auxiliary: The Lutheran Womens Missionary
League (LWML) has been newly formed and meets monthly for inspiration and
encouragement for world mission work. Their "Mite Box" offerings are sent to
national LWML mission projects.

Altar: The Altar Care Ministry: Our mission is to
prepare the altar for communion and worship, to care for all flowers and seasonal plants,
banners and candles, so that our worship is edified and glory given to the Lord.
Spiritual Care Groups: Our ministry is to provide an
environment of spiritual care, faith and friendship building through the use of small
groups. Groups are under the direction of a group leader and meet at times of their
choosing.Prayer Ministry: Our mission is to bring intercession to God
for others in need. There is a Prayer Chain that takes all calls for
prayer (simply call the church office). Women are knitting beautiful
“prayer shawls” that serve as a reminder of God’s promises in prayer. On
Sundays the whole church prays for all. Prayer is a special part of small
group ministries.
